Lateral/Recruit Police Officer
The Boardman Police Department is hiring for a full-time Police Officer. This is a lateral/recruit position. The minimum qualifications are:
Recruit
- Be a United States citizen, and at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
- Be a high school graduate or equivalent.
- Must reside within forty-five minutes of the city limits of Boardman, OR.
- Possess or be able to obtain a valid Oregon Driver’s License and have a good driving record.
- Pass a psychological evaluation and an extensive background investigation.
- Have basic computer literacy and keyboard skills.
- Have the ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
- Be able to resolve situations by making appropriate decisions in highly stressful, rapidly evolving, and violent situations.
- Be able to perform the critical and essential tasks of a police officer (https://www.oregon.gov/dpsst/CJ/CJForms/F2CriticalEssentialTasks-POLICE.pdf).
- College credits and/or Degree desired.
- A bilingual Spanish-speaking officer is desired.
- All requirements listed above.
- Possess a valid Oregon Basic Police Officer Certification from DPSST or equivalent within six months of hire.
- Recruit Salary is $31.24 an hour/$64,979 annually
- Lateral Salary is $32.65-$44.43 an hour/$67,912-$92,414 annually
- Pay incentives include bilingual, FTO, and certifications
- Medical, Dental, Vision, and Prescription insurance
- Vacation and sick time accrued each month based on years of employment
- City paid PERS
- 5% of base salary into a deferred comp account
