Position Summary
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the EHS Coordinator will enforce a workplace culture of health and safety.  They will review, evaluate and analyze work environments and design programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury. They will implement safety programs and policies, train personnel on new protocols, and ensure that the facility is following all health and safety regulations.  The EHS Coordinator will assist in minimizing the risk of job-related accidents, monitor production to eliminate hazardous activities and promote occupational health and safety (OSHA) awareness.
 
The ideal candidate for this position will have previous health and/or safety experience. They will have the ability to lead and influence the teams around them. They should have a passion for training and safety with a strong attention to risk and potential hazards.
Position Responsibilities

  • Educate employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials. 
  • Inspect facility to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure those measures have been applied.
  • Provide information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
  • Lead the investigation of accidents, injuries and near misses, performing Root Cause Analysis and working with the EHS Manager for coaching and corrective action as needed.
  • Keep Records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions.
  • Maintain employee safety training files and records.
  • Implement the use of Person Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety equipment.
  • Monitor emergency action plans.
  • Design public and/or employee health and safety programs.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to plan or provide treatment.
  • Manage return to work/light duty programs.
  • Analyze data to identify trends or relationships among variables.
  • Manage and monitor environmental programs.
  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies and/or equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • High school diploma is required, some college is preferred.
  • Two (2) years previous work experience with a diverse employee population is required. Experience in manufacturing, health and safety, or agriculture is preferred. Candidates with a Bachelors’ degree may substitute the degree in lieu of experience.
  • OSHA 10/30 General Industry Training is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of safety and environmental laws, rules, and regulations is required.
  • Familiarity with Safety and Food Safety programs is required.
  • Strong communication, both verbal and written, is required.
  • Bilingual – Spanish & English preferred
