Reporting to the Packaging Supervisor, the Packaging Lead will oversee all aspects of the packaging process and lead a team to meet production goals. The Packaging Lead is responsible for supervising team members, ensuring quality and safety standards are upheld, and driving operational efficiency. This position plays a key role in daily execution and continuous improvement within the packaging department.
 
The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently, read and interpret safety, operating and maintenance instruction and procedure manuals.
 
Position Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support the packaging team to ensure efficient, accurate, and high-quality output.
  • Assign daily tasks to team members to meet volume and quality objectives.
  • Train new team members on proper procedures for weighing, sealing, and handling packaging materials.
  • Inspect packaging materials to ensure they are free of defects and suitable for use.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance (QA) to ensure all products meet company and regulatory standards.
  • Complete all required paperwork clearly, accurately, and legibly.
  • Ensure all personnel are properly trained in the safe and sanitary use of packaging equipment.
  • Communicate machinery issues promptly to maintenance and the Warehouse Manager.
  • Proactively identify and suggest opportunities for improvement in processes or procedures.
  • Uphold and enforce all safety, sanitation, and quality protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalency preferred
  • Prior experience in a packaging or manufacturing environment, with leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and motivate team members.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and safety.
  • Basic mechanical understanding of packaging equipment preferred.
Qualifications
  • Experience working with QA teams or in quality-controlled environments.
  • Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and safety standards in food or product packaging
