JOB SUMMARY
Provide internal audit functions for WRC operations, ensuring that proper controls are in place to protect Tribal assets. Perform compliance audits for WRC non-gaming procedural manual and Internal Controls. Supervise the compliance department in the manager’s absence.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure customer service and satisfaction through friendly, prompt, efficient, and professional service.
- Conduct risk-based audits to test the accuracy of the following: revenue, cash, inventories, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, accruals for tax liability, fixed assets, contracts, and leases, and submits a written report of findings to Supervisor and the department head.
- Promptly and efficiently conduct investigations of violations to the non-gaming procedural manual or Internal Controls including allegations of fraud and/or theft, irregularities, etc., and provide written findings to Supervisor.
- Provide quarterly reports to Supervisor on the status of audits conducted and actions recommended.
- Monitor data for any positive or negative trends in revenues or expenses. Pin-point and report any irregularities to generally accepted accounting practices immediately.
- Review the Resort and Casino enterprise’s monthly financial statements by line item summarizing findings in a narrative for inclusion in the monthly report. Explain in detail all major variances.
- Assist with the development of or amendments to policies/procedures to protect the integrity of operations.
- In Supervisor’s absence, shall supervise Compliance staff, including leave approval, and performance counseling, and provide feedback for appraisal and training needs.
- May provide training on regulatory policies and procedures, including Title 31, counterfeit bills, cash handling procedures, etc.
- Comply with regulatory laws, employee handbook, department policy and procedures, safety codes, etc.
- Promote a clean, safe, and healthy work environment for employees and guests. Promptly report all concerns to Supervisor.
- Develop and maintain an effective and professional working rapport with WRC management, supervisors, and co-workers.
- Must practice strict confidentiality at all times.
- Participate and attend designated meetings, training, activities, etc., as directed.
- Ensure that the operation of equipment, tools, and materials is handled safely.
- Other related duties as assigned or directed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and one year of accounting experience (OR) Associate Degree in accounting, finance, or related field and three (3) years of accounting experience.
- Strong computer skills required including Office Word, database, email, and accounting application software. Must demonstrate exceptional spreadsheet skills.
- Strong communication skills: efficient verbal skills to exchange information; good auditory acuity to respond to others; Provide written information that is clear, concise, and appropriate to the task; and demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and abilities to work effectively with others.
- Knowledge of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles).
- Transportation to travel between resort properties.
- Individuals must be a self-starter and be able to work with a minimum amount of supervision.
- Flexible schedule to work various days/hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Work/sit for long periods at work/computer station; perform the repetitive motion of arms, wrists, and fingers; and at times, move throughout a smoke-filled environment.
- Requires a High-Security Gaming License clearance.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Two (2) years of Casino Gaming experience.
